Emission reduction projects
The Kyoto-Protocol offers the opportunity to offset reductions within the European Emission Trading Scheme. The aim is to achieve reductions at the lowest cost possible, thus minimizing the additional financial impacts on the European industry.
The Linking Directive of the European Commission links the flexible Kyoto mechanisms of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) to the European Emission Trading System.
